This is a lovely mat, unfortunately it is not the mat for us at feeding time. Due to the polyester material my cat rather enjoys scratching this so his water bowl wobbles & spills every where! I can however attest to the absorbency, as the floor underneath stayed relatively dry. This is now our grooming mat, as my cat rather enjoys lounging on it now his water bowl has been removed.
